How do you lengthen the body through Pilates?

Last weekend I was training again in London, with a great lecture on the pelvis and the importance of opening the ball and socket joint of the hips. So following on from this topic, I want to focus this week on the opening of the body to help create a lengthening affect through the body.

To do this, we must scoop efficiently. This means lifting the stomach muscles into the ribcage from the inside giving space between the joints, and this helps to open the body without the main head and shoulder joints. So it’s open focused Week! Arm sequences on the Reformer, great for core control, strength and freeing up the body!

Not long ’til our Launch Week, coming up soon the week commencing 25 March, when we re-launch the studio with its new name, branding and celebrating with a week’s worth of freebies, offers, treats and a chance for you to bring your friends along for free sessions!
